Wusage 8.0 ManualBefore You Start: Choosing Simple, ISP or Advanced ModeHow Will You Use The Program? When you start the program for the first time, you will be invited to choose one of three modes:![]() ![]() ![]()
Note to returning users of Wusage 6.0 and 7.0: pick Advanced mode for a familiar interface that will allow you access to your existing configuration files. You can access all of the features of the program in this mode. About Simple ModeDo you want to analyze just one web server? Pick "simple" mode. In this mode you can dive right into the program, immediately telling the software where to find your log files so that you can move forward and get started right away! When you pick Simple Mode for the first time, you will immediately be asked to begin configuring the program to analyze your single web server. Now you are ready to move on to the Configuring the Program in Simple Mode section of the manual. Please Note: when you pick Simple Mode, you are not missing out on any features of the program that relate to creating a single set of reports about a single web server. That's all that most users need to do. If you wish, you can slip into advanced mode to change your optimization settings in order to address speed, disk space and memory usage issues. All other features relating to a single server are present in simple mode, and the optimization settings do not change the results, but only the way your system's resources are used to produce them. About ISP ModeDo you want to manage many virtual web servers? "ISP" (Internet Service Provider) mode provides a friendly way to create separate accounts for many different virtual web servers. Each account is tied to a specific virtual web server; you can safely permit users to edit their own report settings. If you choose to give account names and passwords out to individual web server owners, they can access a simple web-based interface very similar to "simple mode." See Remote Access for One or Many Users for more information on how to set up Wusage for remote access. Now you are ready to move on to the Configuring the Program in ISP Mode section of the manual. About Advanced ModeDo you want to analyze many web servers yourself in a variety of complicated ways? Pick "Advanced" mode to access all of the program's features. Returning Wusage 7.0 users will like this mode best. Here you can create one or more configuration files and work with them directly. You can also access the features of ISP mode. Now you are ready to move on to the Configuring the Program in Advanced Mode section of the manual.
