The stagger of the cylinders and baffles around the cylinders directed cooling air around them all. Cylinderhead temperature was measured off the rear row. They could be a real bear to work on though. Spent 4 years working on KC-97 engines. Love 'em!!!

I worked many PW 4360 engines and worked the one now on display in Washington. But your is outstanding...BRAVO
PS I also worked on them in the Air Force back in 1950-54

I always stand in awe of the efforts must have it taken to design and develope this engine. No CAD, no computers, no CNC machining centers! Just smarts, sweat, and the desire to defeat a tyrant!

Wonderful engine.
I have thousands of hrs as a Flight Engineer in C97 aircraft and then with AeroSpacelines (PG Aircraft)operating the R 4360 engine.
When operated properly, this was a very reliable engine
