Doubled edge. Sharpness slightly finer with a few light obverse scratches. Light gold toning over pale gray surfaces with some remaining lustre.

The mintage of half dollars soared to 6,412,004 coins, one of just two years along with 1836 to have a mintage exceeding six million coins. This coinage consisted of 21 die marriages from 18 obverse and 21 reverse dies. In addition, a single Crushed Edge Lettering variety is known, although not listed in Overton. Of those produced for circulation, only two varieties are considered scarce. The Logan Collection includes 34 coins representing all 22 known die combinations. Three major types are identified, Large Date with Large Letters, Large Date with Small Letters, and Small Date with Small Letters. These three groups provide a major help with attribution.

The edge lettering is completely doubled and overlapped.
