Coinage commenced at the new Mint building with 5,206,000 half dollars struck. Sixteen die marriages are known including 15 listed in the Overton reference from 13 obverse and 14 reverse dies, and a single Crushed Lettered Edge variety that was considered by Al Overton and Don Parsley to be a restrike, thus not warranting a spot in their text. Russ Logan obtained one example of each of the 16 varieties.
