Lightly cleaned with very minor hairlines and bright silver surfaces at center of obverse and reverse. A dark toning streak is present near Liberty's eye. The obverse has lovely peripheral blue toning while the reverse has very light gold at the borders.

This is a top quality example of the variety and may qualify for the Condition Census. Don Parsley listed the top five as 55, 50, 50, 50, 50. Steve Herrman has auction records including MS-64, MS-63, AU-55, and this AU-50.

Light obverse clash marks with a thin die crack joining the bust to all stars on the left. The reverse die has no clash marks or die cracks. The letters are all drawn to the border.

From Superior's sale of September 1997, Lot 1193.
