A rare and important variety, classified as Rarity-8 when the second edition of Overton was published some 30 years ago. It is interesting to note, however, that in the 1967 first edition of Overton, where this variety was catalogued as variety number 33, no comment was made about rarity.

Medium gray obverse with lighter silver around the devices. The reverse is much lighter silver gray. Minor abrasions are noted in the fields on both sides. A few minor rim marks are also evident.

Perfect dies.

Purchased March 6, 1976 at a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania coin show.
