Doubled Profile. Full double profile from neck to forehead, tripled at some points. Light silver surfaces with hints of pale blue and light gold toning. Trivial surface marks are noted on the reverse.

This variety, and O-112 which shares the same obverse, has a center dot on Liberty’s neck that sits in a depression. In Journal issue 41, Edgar Souders hypothesizes that this was caused when the center dot was punched too deep in the die, and the depression was caused when the shoulder of the punch also struck the die. We must give considerable credit to Mr. Souders for composing an interesting and informative eight page article on the subject of “Dots” that appeared on Capped Bust half dollars. Some of these dots were intentional, such as center dots, while others were unintentional, such as dots from die rust.
