1893 Columbian Exposition elongate struck over 1824/4 O-110 half dollar. EF-45. Very deeply toned with shiny steel gray surfaces as a result of the elongation process. This is an exceptional associated item for the Capped Bust half dollar collector. Many coins were similarly elongated with the Columbian Exposition inscription, however, the majority of these were on much smaller denomination coins, almost always cents and nickels.

Amazingly, all of the edge lettering is perfectly preserved.

This elongate measures 33.2 mm. x 43.8 mm.

Purchased from Henry Hilgard, April 2001. Earlier from our sale of September 1992, Lot 2255.
