Pale gray obverse and reverse surfaces with peripheral blue and iridescent toning. Very faint hairlines and other trivial surface marks suggest this has been lightly cleaned at some time in the past. This is one of the very rare varieties in the Capped Bust half dollar series, recently losing its Rarity-6 status with just over 30 examples now known. Although not a Condition Census example, this coin is certainly among the finer specimens known for this die combination. Most collectors have never had the opportunity to acquire an example of this rare die marriage, until now. This is an extremely important opportunity for the advanced die variety specialist. The obverse has several characteristic die cracks, common only to this variety and O-108a as in the previous lot. Look for the die crack across end of the bust, then check the reverse. The first A of AMERICA has a full inside right serif on this very rare variety, but is lacking the same on O-108. Variety hunting (dealers hate the word cherrypicking) was never easier.
