Light gray surfaces with lustre remaining around devices. Wisps of darker toning are present on the obverse. A minor scratch is visible in the left obverse field.

This year provides several interesting and highly collectible sub-varieties given names such as Broken 3, Ugly 3, and Patched 3. If your favorite digit is 3, this is the year for you. Thirteen die marriages are known for this date, produced from 11 obverse and 12 reverse dies. Total mintage was 1,694,200 coins.

Two extremely rare varieties are among coins of this date, O-109 and O-113, this latter variety more recently discovered and not included in the present offering. Of the 12 remaining varieties all included in the Logan Collection, 16 coins are presented in the following lots.
