Struck Off-center from mis-aligned dies. Illustrated in the third edition of Overton, page 618. An intriguing example with the obverse 5% off-center 3:30 and the reverse 12% off-center! Light gray surfaces with pale tan devices. A toning spot is noticed in the left obverse field. Conservatively graded Good-6 by Superior in the Pugh Catalogue. This example has the heavy clash marks and die cracks of O-101a. From Superior's sale of the Pugh Collection, May 1992, Lot 1009. Earlier from the Queen Mary (California) coin show in 1983. |
