The discovery coin for this overdate. Stewart P. Witham discovered the overdate features of this variety at the time of his acquisition, April 11, 1965 according to a note from Russ Logan. Intermingled grayish brown, steel blue, and rose toning with some minor surface marks and scratches. Quite sharply struck with full border details and prominent overdate features. The stars at left are flat with those at right sharp, similar to the Overton plate coin.

The coinage of 1811 totaled 1,203,644 half dollars from nine obverse and 10 reverse dies. Obverse dies 5 and 7 appear to be the same. These dies were combined to produce 13 varieties. This is a fascinating year with overdates, and large and small 8 variations within the date. Only O-113 is considered rare while four other varieties are very scarce. The Logan Collection includes 16 coins including three off-center examples.

Perfect dies.
