Offset edge Very light gray with peripheral gold toning and very minor hairlines.

Both obverse and reverse appear perfect without die cracks.

Russ Logan gave the term Offset edge to examples where the planchet was placed in the wrong starting position of the Castaing machine, but without evidence of doubling or other edge errors. Essentially, an Offset edge is identified by a much larger than normal space between the two sets of words from each edge die. In some instances, there may be minor overlapping of letters, especially involving the words OR and HALF.
