Double Struck. According to Russ Logan's notes, the first strike was approximately 5% off-center at 7:30 and the second strike was rotated 150° from the first. The letters TY of LIBERTY from the first strike are clearly visible on Liberty's neck just left of the drapery clasp. Additional details from the first strike are also visible on both sides, including the end of her drapery in the field above the cap. A few of the stars from the first strike are visible within the replacement stars, espcially at stars 8 and 9 from the second strike. The surfaces are dark gray with some roughness and a partial hole just inside star 3. Slightly later die state than the previous lot with additional die cracks over the date. Purchased May 1, 1994 at a Wooster, Ohio coin show. |
