Dark grayish brown with hints of gold and iridescent toning. Lighter silver on parts of the devices. Very light surface marks are present. The left wing is weakly defined although with some detail. A highly attractive example of this rare die variety and an important opportunity for the specialist. This is one of the very finest examples of this die marriage known to us. Two EF-45 examples are listed in the JRCS Census while Parsley lists four similar coins. This specimen is probably fifth or sixth finest known.

Shattered reverse die with numerous die cracks including a prominent curved bisecting crack from 11:30 to 7:00, through center of the shield.

Purchased April 18, 1989 from Sheridan Downey. Ex Davis, Frederick.
