Deep and attractive toning in the fields and across portions of the devices with the balance of obverse and reverse designs having very light gray surfaces.

The obverse has clash marks and die cracks equivalent to the late state O-120a in the previous lot. This is a very late state of the obverse die with heavy flowlines near the border and through the stars. The reverse appears perfect.

Purchased April 1994 from Gino Sanfilippo of ABC Art and Coin in Brecksville, Ohio. This cataloguer (Mark Borckardt) first met Gino in the late 1980's, prior to my joining Bowers and Merena. At the time, I was working with my dad in a coin shop in Findlay, Ohio. We had just bought a rather extensive variety collection of half cents, and Gino came in the shop and bought the entire collection from us, starting him on his journey as a collector of half cent varieties.
