Slight weakness on the upper hair curls below LIBERTY. Gray, rose, and amber toning with a few minor surface marks. This is a very scarce variety usually seen in lower circulated grades, although known in Mint State.

This is the final year of Capped Bust dime production with coins of the new Liberty Seated design also produced. Four die marriages are known combining two obverse and three reverse dies. Production was pegged at 359,500 coins of this design.

The first use of this obverse die prior to JR-2 and JR-3. The third reverse die use after 1835 JR-8 and 1836 JR-3.

Perfect obverse. Very faint reverse cracks as described in the Dime Book.
