Light silver surfaces with pale blue and heather toning. Sharply struck with slightly reflective fields. Described as "Brilliant Uncirculated" by Stack's in March 1992. This is the finest example listed in the Dime Census. Considered a scarce variety although available in higher grades including Mint State.

This is the first obverse die use prior to JR-7 and JR-8 and the second reverse die use in between early and late states of 1836 JR-1.

Perfect obverse and reverse dies.

Purchased April 1994 from Larry Blackwelder. Earlier from Stack's sale of March 1992, Lot 615.
