Natural light gray surfaces with grayish brown peripheral toning. Although a scarce variety, higher grade examples are known. Only two finer examples were listed in the Dime Census.

The second obverse and reverse uses. The obverse was first used for JR-1 and later for JR-3. The reverse was earlier used for 1834 JR-7.

Perfect obverse. The reverse has a crack from border to scroll through right side of D and another through base of MERIC to border over C. Other very minor die cracks are noted.

Purchased at the 1990 ANA Convention in Seattle, Washington.
