An attractive example with bright silver lustre and peripheral iridescent toning. Described by Stack's as "Brilliant Uncirculated" in the Lovejoy catalogue. In 1980, Superior graded this "Mint State 60." This example is far finer than any other recorded in the Dime Census. This variety, however, is considered very common with several Mint State examples known.

This is the third obverse die use after JR-1 and JR-3, and before JR-10. The reverse is in its second and final use after 1832 JR-7.

The obverse has an extremely faint die crack at Liberty's throat. The reverse die has several very light die cracks with a heavy, prominent die crack through E of UNITED to top of the scroll and back to the border through E of STATES. A branch extends up to the border through A of STATES.

From Stack’s sale of the Lovejoy Collection, October 1990, Lot 134. Previously from the Superior's sale of the Gary Burghoff Collection, January 1980, Lot 77.
