Nearly complete lustre with vivid gold, blue, and heather toning. Very sharply struck and with excellent eye appeal. The finest recorded in the Dime Census was just EF-45. A scarce variety although Mint State examples are known.

This is the second obverse die use after JR-3 and before JR-6 and JR-7. First reverse die use before 1832 JR-5 and 1833 JR-3.

Nearly perfect obverse with the digit 3 closed by a short die crack between top and bottom knobs. Perfect reverse.

Previously graded AU-58 by PCGS.

From Goldberg's sale of February 2000, Lot 818.
