Virtually full frosty lustre with only a few trivial abrasions. Both obverse and reverse have lovely gold and iridescent toning over very light gray surfaces. Acquired after the last Dime Census was published in JRCS, this is far finer than any other example listed.

The obverse has a very light crack from star 7 through the cap to border above star 8. Another crack joins star 12 and the lowest hair curl. Some die rust is visible on the obverse. This reverse die exhibits all die cracks described in the Dime Book for 1832 JR-3!

The edge cud on this example involves four reeds and just misses a fifth.

Purchased September 1999 from Charles Horning. Earlier from Howard Barron at the 1997 FUN Convention.
