This is an outstanding example with reflective fields beneath lovely gold and iridescent toning. In the Dime Book, an attribution point for the reverse die is given as "Lump over scroll below S1." A note in Russ Logan's copy states "not on all!" This example clearly does not have the lump as described and shown on the plate coin. Just 12 examples of this variety were recorded in the Dime Census with one possibly finer coin. This die marriage is very rare in Mint State.

Third use of the obverse die after JR-4 and Jr-5 and the only use of the reverse die.

The obverse has a crack from border through star 5 continuing faintly into the field toward Liberty's nose. The reverse is perfect.

Purchased November 2000 from J.J. Teaparty.
