Illustrated in the John Reich Dime Book, page 161. Light silvery gray with peripheral lilac and bluish green. A small rim mark is over the head, providing a convenient pedigree reference, and a tiny nick is above the wing at right. Described by Stack's as "About Uncirculated" in the Lovejoy catalogue and also in the 1976 ANA sale. This is a very scarce variety and unavailable in high-grade. This example and one other are tied for finest listed among just 13 coins recorded in the Dime Census.

This is the second use of the obverse die after JR-4 and before JR-6. The reverse was not used for any other marriages.

Crack from border through star 5 to Liberty's nose. Thin die lines are noted through UNITED ST at left reverse.

From Stack’s sale of the Lovejoy Collection, October 1990, Lot 96. Previously from Stack’s 1976 ANA Sale, August 1976, Lot 794.
