This is an absolutely stunning example that would be called fully Mint State by most observers. Fully brilliant, frosty lustre is accented by very light and attractive gold toning. A few very light surface marks are present as expected.

A scarce variety that is generally seen in circulated grades. This is the finest example recorded in the Dime Census and one of only two coins listed as AU. Sharply struck with good lustre under pale gold toning. Stack's catalogued this as "Brilliant Uncirculated, and close to choice" in the Lovejoy catalogue.

This is the only use of either die.

Perfect obverse. Vague clash marks are evident on the reverse.

From Stack’s sale of the Lovejoy Collection, October 1990, Lot 88. Previously from Paul Padget, November 30, 1983.
