Lightly cleaned obverse with minor hairlines. Light gray with traces of iridescent toning. The reverse has nearly full ivory lustre with pale gold toning. A scarce variety that is difficult to locate in Extremely Fine or better condition. This example is tied with one other for honors as the finest recorded in the Dime Census.

First obverse die use before JR-8 and also the first reverse die use before JR-10.

Nearly perfect obverse with a tiny die chip at outside right of digit 8. Very faint reverse clash marks.

Purchased at the 1992 ANA Convention.
