Nearly complete lustre is present with pale gold, lilac, and iridescent toning. A few faint hairlines are present, including a very light vertical scratch on Liberty's cheek. Extremely faint doubling of most letters in the legend is noted. Considered a common variety, examples are available in all grades through Mint State. This example is second finest among 16 examples in the Dime Census. Second use of the obverse die after JR-2 and the only use of the reverse die. Slight rim crumbling is present on the obverse from 11:30 to 12:00. Perfect reverse. Purchased June 1991 from J.J. Teaparty. |
