Stack's graded this About Uncirculated. Russ Logan recorded this in his copy of the Dime Book as AU-55 while listing the same example in the Dime Census as just EF-40. A scarce variety that may actually deserve a higher rarity rating. Just 14 examples are listed in the Dime Census with one finer than this. The only obverse die use. The reverse was later used for 1823 JR-1. Very faint obverse and reverse clash marks.
From Stack's sale of December 1992, Lot 1030. Ex William L. Subjack, Allen F. Lovejoy.
