Deep gray surfaces with hints of very light blue toning. A few trivial surface marks are noted. A common variety, however, difficult to locate in higher grades. Only one finer example is listed in the Dime Census.

This is the second use of the obverse die after JR-3 and second use of the reverse die after JR-2.

The obverse has a short die crack from the border to upper point of star 4. Die chips fill both angles of M with both A's in AMERICA partially filled.

Purchased at the 1991 ANA Convention.
