Slight weakness is noted at central obverse, particularly on the hair curls just below Liberty's headband. Some lustre remains with attractive light orange, amber, and pale blue toning. A few trivial surface marks are present. A common variety that is considered easily obtainable in all grades through MS-60. Despite this comment, just 16 examples were recorded in the Dime Census with the two finest each graded just EF-45 (including this coin). This is the only use of the obverse die and second use of the reverse die after JR-12. The obverse has very light clash marks with a bulge from star 9 to star 11. The reverse also has very light clash marks with a bulge through ICA. Purchased August 1989 from Gerald Schertz. |
