An attractive example with light gold toning over satiny gray lustre. A few very minor surface marks are noted. This example may have been cleaned at one time, however, retains considerable eye appeal. A scarce variety yet available in all grades short of Mint State. Only one finer example was recorded in the Dime Census.

Only use of either die.

The obverse has light clash marks with a bulge at star 13 and another through stars 2 and 3. The reverse has a full rim break from the right upright of N in UNITED through the tops of IT, joining the left serif of E. An additional short die crack connects the border to right top of this same letter.

Purchased July 1992 from William Subjack. Earlier from Stack's in 1980.
