Nearly full lustre with light gold toning. Slightly weak on the top curls, and possibly finer than our grade. Liberty is gazing at a tiny planchet flaw in the left obverse field. A common variety available in all grades including Mint State. This is the finest recorded in the Dime Census.

This is the first use of the obverse die prior to JR-5 and second use of the reverse die after JR-3.

The obverse has light clash marks. The reverse die has all cracks identified in the Dime Book, however, without evidence of die bulges described.

Purchased April 1994 from Larry Blackwelder.
