Double Struck. The obverse has pale pewter gray devices with dark rose toning in the fields. The reverse is slightly darker gray with splashes of very light gray around devices. Very light scratches are visible on the surfaces, especially on the obverse.

This example is double struck with leaves and a berry visible within the right shield border. A single extra star is seen in the top row of stars on the reverse, giving this a "14 star reverse" nomenclature. The first strike was approximately 20% off-center.

This is the only use of the obverse die. The reverse had a very long life, earlier used to strike quarter eagles: 1805 Breen-1, 1806 Breen-1, 1806 Breen-2, and 1807 Breen-1.
