Light gray surfaces with very faint traces of blue and gold toning. Light scratches and other minor surface marks are evident. Weak central details on the obverse with much sharper reverse design features. This example is the second finest of five coins recorded in the Dime Census and may qualify for the Condition Census of the top six known examples.

This is the second use of the obverse die with the recently discovered JR-5 dime providing the first use. The reverse was first used for 1802 JR-2 dimes.

Light obverse clash marks. The reverse die has heavy clash marks with numerous die cracks. A heavy crack from the border to third feather in right wing continues through this wing and across the horizontal and vertical shield lines to the arrow feathers and border.
