Very sharply struck and a well centered impression. Medium blue, violet, and pale gold toning. Lightly abraded with a small blemish between Liberty's forehead and Y. This is slightly rarer than the JR-1 variety, the only other known die marriage of the year. An outstanding opportunity for the specialist. As a date, this issue is quite underrated with a few higher grade examples tending to skew the true rarity. Acquired after the last Dime Census, this example is not recorded, however, only one finer example was listed among seven coins in that report.

This is the second use of the obverse die after JR-1. The reverse is in its first use and was later used for 1801 JR-1.

Very minor die chips and scratches are noted, however, no clash marks or die cracks are visible on this example.
