Deep gray fields with iridescent wisps. The devices have lighter silver gray on the highest points. This is an attractive example for the grade. A scarce variety. Six die varieties are known for the quarter dollar coinage dated 1837, from three obverse and four reverse dies. The quarter dollar mintage for the year was reported as 252,400 coins. This die variety is from an obverse die also used for the very recently discovered B-6 marriage. The reverse was also used for 1835 B-8, 1836 B-1 and B-5, 1837 B-3 and B-4.

The obverse is cracked through lower drapery from star 1 to star 13. A branch joins the border through 7. The reverse is cracked through D STATE.
