Pleasing light gray with hints of gold and iridescent toning. Light hairlines are visible. An important early die state as described below. This obverse die was used for 1835 B-1, B-2, and B-3. The reverse die was also used for 1834 B-3.

This year represented the high water mark for mintage of reduced size quarters with a mintage of 1,952,000. This was very nearly half of approximately 4,000,000 pieces coined for the entire design type.

Very early die state with only a trace of the reverse die crack described by Browning. The obverse die appears perfect. Walter Breen noted that he had only ever seen two business strikes from the perfect obverse die.

Purchased March 1976 from Don Frederick.
