Five die varieties are known for the quarter dollar coinage of 1834. These were produced from a combination of two obverse and four reverse dies with a reported mintage of 286,000 coins. This obverse die was used for 1834 B-1 and B-2 varieties. As noted above, the reverse was earlier used for 1833 B-2. The obverse has a semi-circular die crack on the obverse from border below star 1, through the bust and star 13, back to the border.
Purchased March 1976 from Don Frederick.
