Double Struck. The first strike was approximately 10% off center at 5:00 and rotated 180°. Most of the visible details from the first strike are located on the rims of the final strike. Top of the cap and stars are visible (upside down) on the rim below Liberty's bust. On the reverse, parts of the denomination, leaves, and arrowheads are visible on the rim above ITED STATES OF. Frosty lustre is present beneath ivory, golden brown, and steel gray toning. Very shallow old scratches are visible on Liberty's cheek.

An early die state without clash marks are die rust.
