Very lightly cleaned with light silver surfaces and peripheral iridescence. This variety begins a long sequence of interconnected die marriages including 18 varieties through 1835. This obverse was common to 1831 B-2 and B-3 while the reverse was only used for this single die marriage.

Late die state. The obverse die is perfect. The reverse is heavily cracked through the tops of UNITED STATES. A branch of this crack joins the border over upright of D. A second crack joins base of 25 C and period, continuing through the arrowheads and tops of MERICA.
