Deeply toned with steel blue and dark gray fields around very slightly lighter devices. A thin scratch is noted in the left obverse field. Not only is this a rare variety but it is also an important blundered die variety with its own listing in the Guide Book. A handful of Proof examples are known along with one or two Mint State coins. All others known are well circulated with Good or Very Good being typical. Only three clearly finer coins are listed among nine examples in the JRCS census. This variety is produced from the single 1822 obverse die and the blundered reverse die, later used in 1828.

Perfect dies.
