Lightly cleaned with light silver surfaces and darker gray toning along part of the obverse border. The surfaces have very faint scratches and other minor abrasions. This example is third finest of 16 coins listed in the JRCS Census. This obverse die was also used for 1820 B-2 while the reverse die was later used for 1821 B-2.

Perfect dies.

Quarter dollars dated 1820 were minted to the extent of 127,444 coins from a combination of three obverse and four reverse dies to produce five varieties. Three of the four reverse dies were used in later years.
