Light gray surfaces, slightly darker in the fields. A desirable example at this grade level. Minor hairlines and other abrasions are noted, including a vertical row of four pinpoint marks in the right obverse field.

Officially listed as Rarity-6, however, it is our opinion that this is probably a Rarity-5 variety. In his update of the Browning reference, Walter Breen recorded just five examples known to him. On the other hand, 17 different examples are listed in the JRCS Quarter Census, equivalent to other varieties of much lower rarity. This example ranks sixth among those 17 coins. Obverse of B-8, 9, and 10. The reverse die was shared with 1818 B-7.

Clash marks on the obverse are extremely heavy above Liberty's cap. The reverse has a very heavy die crack through the left upright of N in UNITED.
