Lightly hairlined with attractive ivory surfaces and splashes of deeper toning on the highest design points. An attractive example with traces of lustre visible. A scarce variety. This is among the finer examples listed in the Quarter Census. Only two higher grade examples are listed among 19 coins reported by JRCS members. This obverse die was also used for 1818 B-9 and 10. The reverse was only used for this variety.

The reverse has a heavy die crack from the border to lowest pair of leaves, continuing to the branch. Unusual characteristics of the reverse die were discussed by Bill Bugert in Volume 4, Issue 2 of the Journal.
