Sharpness slightly finer, however, noticeably cleaned with very light gray centers and pleasing peripheral toning. The surfaces have a lightly brushed appearance. Quite common die marriage with several Mint State examples known. This obverse die was only used for the present variety, while the reverse was also used for 1818 B-5.

Very rare late die state. The obverse has a prominent die crack from the border at 5:00 into the lower hair curls. Another heavy crack from the border at 11:30 crosses front part of the cap to LI and continues across Liberty's face and neck to the curl on the neck and finally to the drapery. The reverse is cracked from the border to scroll, through the right curve of D. A small rim break over the left upright of M joins four dentils.
