Logan-McCloskey Plate Coin, Page 291. Lightly cleaned with bright silver surfaces and very light heather toning on the obverse. A scarce variety and difficult to locate in high-grades. This is the only use of the Small 5C reverse for half dimes dated 1837. An important type issue.

Second use of obverse 3 and second use of reverse EE. The obverse has a vertical die crack from the cap across Liberty's face and neck, into the field left of the date. Another crack from the drapery joins the digit 3. The upper loops of both first and second S are filled. A die crack through the first T of STATES joins the scroll above R. Another crack from the first A in AMERICA cross the scroll to eagle's neck and left corner of the shield. Other minor cracks are also noted.

Purchased October 1994 from Jerry Farrington.
