Slight central weakness. Very faint silvery gray toning with satin lustre. A common die marriage available in all grades.

This is the only use of obverse 2 and also the only use of reverse GG. Obverse cracked from rim at 12:30, down through the cap and hair curls to the lowest curl. The reverse has very faint cracks in the eagle’s wing right of the shield and in the tail feathers from the lower left side of the shield.

While entering date elements in the die, the engraver accidentally placed the digit 3 in the die upside down, then corrected his mistake.

From our sale of the Eliasberg Collection, May 1996, Lot 933.
