Logan-McCloskey Plate Coin, Page 261. Light gray with hints of heather and gold. Minor blemishes are noted. This variety was first described by Will W. Neil in August 1927 in The Numismatist. Walter Breen later reported this in his 1958 supplement, noting that two examples were known, one in the Mint Collection and another offered by New Netherlands in the July 1954 issue of Numisma. Breen made no mention of the earlier article by Neil. Although a scarce variety, examples are known in all grades including Proof. First use of obverse 3 and the only use of reverse BB. Perfect obverse with very minor reverse die defects. |
