A wonderful example with fully reflective fields and deep iridescent toning. Very slight weakness is noted in the eagle's wing just left of the shield. Most of the letters on the reverse show very slight evidence of doubling. This is the finest of just three examples currently known, all listed in the Half Dime Census. The other two coins are recorded as AU-55 and VF-20. This variety was discovered by Tom Holland and sold to Howard Barron. The discovery was reported by Jules Reiver in Volume 2, Issue 3 of the Journal. The discovery coin is AU grade and plated on page 238 of the Logan-McCloskey reference.

Previously certified MS-63 by SEGS.

Sixth use of obverse 2 and the third use of reverse P. The obverse is bulged in front of Liberty's face, with very minor clash marks. Very light die cracks connect stars 3, 4, and 5 with another from top of the headband over L, into the cap. The reverse has weak clash marks and bulges, minor die chips, and several very light die cracks.

Purchased March 2000 from Larry Briggs.
