Logan-McCloskey Plate Coin, Page 174. An extremely pleasing example with virtually complete lustre and nicely blended gold and iridescent toning. A few very faint hairlines are visible on the obverse. A common die marriage available in all grades. Varieties LM-4 (V-3) and LM-12 (V-11) share a common reverse. The difference in obverse identification was discussed by Stephen A. Crain in Volume 7, Issue 1 of the Journal.

Second use of obverse 2 and the first use of reverse J. Lightly cracked through star 1 and from cheek to curls. The obverse has light clash marks below the ear and within the upper hair details. The reverse has minute die chips within N and M.

This die variety, and its two remarriages, represent the first instance in which a Capped Bust half dime variety was produced with two different collar dies. All examples of this LM-4.1 marriage were produced from a collar with 96 reeds while all examples of the LM-4.2 remarriage were produced from a collar with 95 reeds.
